Hi,
Looking for alternative to Calorlite bottles and looking at Gasbank, safefill or Gaslight.
Any recommendations not much information on Gasbank.
Need a light weight bottle for noseweight and payload.
Thanks
Not sure if you had already checked the Search Facility.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!

Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Gasbank have only just come to my attention. The bottles are exactly the same as the Safefill bottles but connection and filling system looks different. Safefill have done a lot of work getting their system approved for self filling on garage forecourts, not sure about Gasbank.
Checking prices the Safefill bottles are available near where I live at a lower cost than the Gasbank.
The main thing is checking that they will fit in your gas locker. Vans with side gas lockers like Bailey may be tight as the Safefill and Gas bank are a larger diameter than calories (about 50mm).
Never heard of Gasbank before you mentioned them! As it appears to be a Polish company, I'd be cautious of final cost to you if purchasing direct, any imported cylinder (now we're out of EU) will likely have import duty and VAT to pay ON TOP of all the purchase, shipping and duty costs! There does seem to be one UK distributor (https://lpgshop.co.uk/gasbank-multi-11-kg-lpg-light-composite-motorhome-propane-bottle/).
As with all 'owned' refillable cylinders, you've got to use a fair bit of gas to justify the outlay on cylinder purchase, and actually make any savings or break even on 'cheap' refills. And take into account that refill outlets are diminishing as popularity of LPG powered road vehicles has all but crashed out of existence, most of the fuel company forecourts have either already done away with the LPG refill station, or are considering doing so, there are other outlets, but they may not be so convenient to find or numerous!
I've got a Flogas 5Kg and a 10Kg Gaslight cylinder, as I also struggle with keeping the nose weight within limits, the 5Kg is great help over the original Calor standard 6Kg, as it's around 7Kg lighter! The 10Kg Gaslight is about the same weight as a Calor 6Kg, so if you can sort your nose weight by some other means, you can carry a lot more gas without any weight penalty. And of course, Flogas seem to have a better and more reliable stock of refills than Calor can manage at moment. Slight penalty on price per Kg for Gaslight cylinders (as was the case with Calorlites!), but for my meagre usage it's tolerable.
The Flogas Gaslight cylinders are a different size/shape to Calor cylinders, so worth checking dimensions to see they fit your locker OK, I can get both the 5Kg and 10Kg in my caravan locker, but I believe earlier (pre 2006ish) caravans had smaller diameter location wells, and some kind of adaptor and longer straps were necessary to hold the Gaslights securely.
As with any exchangeable cylinder, it's not sensible to pay the new cylinder rental agreement, if you can find a s/h one for usually less than £10! I got mine for free from Freegle! You can usually swap 10Kg and 5kg Gaslight cylinders at refill outlets, so get what you can, and swap on refill. And, it pays to buy refills from outlets rather than Flogas direct, they whack on a "Market Volatility Surcharge" of nearly £5 that outlets don't seem to charge!
Hi,
Thanks for replys I was looking at the gas bank kevlar and height is same but diameter is 26mm more so will have to check to see if it fits.
Safefill seems to be the best get but all out of stock only need a 5/6 kg bottle.
There is a gas place down road think I will ask them what they recommend. Can't find reviews about Gas bank.
Gaslight were owned by BP but I believe that they were taken over by Flo-Gas a few years ago which is what I use for needing lightweight gas bottles in the front locker. Maybe a bit more expensive than the Calor-lite cylinders but at least they are easily obtainable at various stockists as Calor-lite was eventually impossible to get hold of.
I bought a Safefill bottle, but did the stupid thing of not checking size. It is much wider than the standard 6KG Calor bottle, and would not fit the gas locker on my MH (not long had). So returned and bought the Gasbank one. For some reason this would not fill at Morrisons. The attendant came out and said they only allow Safefill, so had leave. I then went to an independent garage to fill, but again it would not fill.
Trying to work out what the issue is, could it be the overfill is not allowing any gas in. Anyway after a bit of research someone suggested checking nothing in the tank. I took outside and opened, it did release some pressure, but was dissipated within a few seconds, so can not have had that much in there. Messaging the super, he sent me an extension to the bayonet connection. I have yet to try and fill as the garage is some distance from me. In the mean time I did order a gauge of eBay to try and check in the future what the pressure in the tank is. It does not fit the GasBank tank. I do know the Safefill is also a different connection to this GasBank tank. Not sure if anyone can advise on the different connections. I need to find out which is the same as my Calor regulator
Never heard of Gasbank, which in itself would make me wary. I could find myself out of gas in an area where nobody else has heard of Gasbank either.
I'm also a bit wary of refilling my own bottles, as at least with the exchange system you know you are getting a bottle that has been checked for faults before being suplied.
