Does anybody have any handy tips on storing food/drink in a cool box. Whatever I need always seems to be at the bottom an we end up emptying the whole cool box to get to anything! Just wondered if anyone had any nifty ideas to combat this!
Is that not the way it always is with coolboxes, they are pesky things.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
In my camping fridge/freezer rather than a cool box, but same churned/muddled contents issues, I use one or two cheap plastic or wire baskets (£1 or so from homeware section of any supermarket) to hold the smaller items all together, then you can just lift them out to get to lower contents, and quickly pop them back in, so stuff doesn't get so muddled and doesn't come out of fridge/freezer long enough to warm up much.
We used to have a coffin sized Igloo coolbox mostly as a beer cooler, with a mix of water/ice to keep beer cool (there were a LOT of VERY thirsty chaps! ), we made a removable shelf (perspex type rigid plastic) that kept food stuffs up out of the water/ice and stopped it all getting sopping wet and mixed up with the beer in the vast coolbox.
In theory, cold air sinks, therefore, meat/poultry should be stored towards the bottom of the cool box where it is supposed to be the coldest part.
I stored cans of beers/cider, carton of juice and milk and cream along with the meat and poultry at the bottom, for the vegetables to be stored on top.
I need to be careful to avoid the delicate salad leaves from being too close to the cold air outlet as they could freeze and turn into mush.

Check size of coolbox but mine would take bacon rasher boxes stood on end. One for bacon one for cheese one for cooked meats, fish, and other things So each with end at the top the bottles of milk / cans held them in place. when not in use stacked in to each other or washed out and used for something else. As I bought mine one at a time all different so I knew what was in each box but even I would label them if all the same.
