I have a higher mains kit. On the back are 2 clips which I think are designed to clip it to a tent pole. This doesn't work with our tunnel tent but as a result it can't be placed flat.
The clips are each held with a single screw. I'm tempted to remove them but am worried that this might mean the unit is no longer waterproof. Does anyone know if this would be safe?
AFAIK, EHU kits are not waterproof as such, in that one cannot submerge the kit with the appliances plugged in in water, as water can get in via the plugs and sockets.

Could you not tie some string or a short bungee or strap round the clip, and hang it from a roof pole.
Or get a couple cf bits of wood thicker than the clips an lie it on them?
It would keep it off the ground and be flat.

DK168 Photo attached. The clips swivel on the screws. Thanks for clarifying re waterproof, I should have said water resistance.
664DaveS Thanks for the suggestions. I think it might be too heavy to hang from the roof but I might try the wood.

Sorry, however, no photo attached.

If it’s inside the tent and has the recommended circuit breaker (or whatever the safety ‘trip’ is called), I don’t really get the ‘waterproof’ requirement. The hook will have been added after the unit was put together & won’t be integral to its safety, I don’t think, but there are good suggestions for peace of mind.
Let us know what you end up doing!

Thanks for all the suggestions.
Trying again with the picture
Thanks for the photo.
As already suggested by the others, clip it to a table leg or take the clips off then replace the screws in the holes.
It can be placed flat on the groundsheet of a tent, and it should be sufficiently safe unless there is a leak from above or a flood!

It was bought new. They are there to clip it to a tent pole but that doesn't work with a tunnel tent.
so you will have to find something else that it will fit onto then, failing that just put it on the floor of your tent even better if you can turn a plastic box upside down and stand it on that

Is your tunnel tent an air beam type tent, hence there is no metal poles?
Would you be able to clip it to a table leg as suggested?
The idea of clipping it to a tent pole or table leg is to minimise the risk of the EHU kit being submerged in water should there be a flood.
I must admit for the short time I had used a similar kit while camping with my late partner before I got the roller EHU kit, we just left it on the floor without clipping it to a tent pole or table leg.

The tent has flexible poles which run through sleeves on the outside. Wishing I had paid the extra for the roller EHU but plenty of ideas now, thank you everyone.
I'd just get a length of wooden dowel the right diameter for the clips, sharpen one end and stick it in the ground with mains kit clipped to it. Problem solved.
