After years of deliberating, we finally bought a Weber Q1000 gas barbecue last year, complete with stand. It has stayed in it's box since purchase last October then lifted out and stowed in our car, complete with gas cannisters, for our journey to France.
With only doing overnights and relatively short stays, we didn't bother with it initially but, with the weather being so good, we felt the time had come, so toddled off to la boucherie and got stocked up with marinated meats and the obligatory chipolatas.
Out came the barbecue and I eagerly read the assembly instructions... step 2: position the cooking grates. We lifted the plastic bags containing the drip tray and holder and the instruction books and the plastic bits and bobs for the stand, but found... no cooking grates! Also, no cradle for the stand!
My advice is, check out ALL new camping purchases before loading the car, especially if the new purchase is bulky, large and heavy! It's not easy, trying to explain to an Amazon agent on chat, that the barbecue you purchased 7 months ago is in fact incomplete and therefore unusable...snd that it's now with you in France.
Has anyone else ever failed to check a new purchase, and consequently faced a real problem?
Yours is not a cheap purchase, and I hope you can get an exchange, as it should still be under warranty or whatever.
I can't remember not checking a delivery right away; if I did, they were small and/or inexpensive items, not a major purchase such as a Weber Q!
Good luck with trying to get something back from Weber/Amazon.

I've managed to order replacement grill plates at Amazon France, and Amazon UK say they'll reimburse. Phew!
I'm not so bothered about the missing cradle part of the stand because we have a metal table we can use. the main thing is being able to use the barbeque (although the marinated meat did cook quite well in the Remoska and was very tender and tasty, the meat juices flavoured some Taboulé instead of using olive oil).

Amazon are pretty good with returns/refunds in our experience. We ordered a Revitive leg massager which stopped working after about 6 months. It was picked up from home and soon refunded.
We had a bbq cover with lifetime guarantee and I’m extremely diligent in keeping receipts for these sort of things. Well, we noticed the cover had torn, so I dug out my receipt and the cardboard insert from the original cover, found my order on my Amazon account messaged the seller and a new one was sent and we got it the next day, no hassle whatsoever. I messaged to say what great customer service!
I bought a new Animate Cool Coat in February for the dog (have had one previously and can highly recommend) to use this holiday. Got it out last week, put it on her, and discovered I'd accidentally ordered a size too small (didn't measure sizing as we'd had one before). We can just fasten the velcro round her, but it only comes 2/3 of the way along her back and about half way down her sides. Better than nothing though - and should have checked before we came!
If anyone bothers to read instructions, they inevitably say to check the contents of the package, and give a list of parts that should be there.
I'm pretty diligent with doing that on receipt of devices, it can be something as simple as a missing screw that renders the whole device unusable! When trying to use in anger miles from home is no place to find that out (as has been demonstrated)!
Plenty of retailers are pretty shoddy at discharged their duty with faulty products, especially after some time has expired, so I always feel it's best to check the item ASAP and get any problems sorted within a day or so of receipt.
It's a pain being a pedant, but less of a pain than being on hols weeks and months later and discovering an issue!
The grill grates from Amazon France were delivered yesterday (a day earlier than stated).
We're also missing the cradle part of the stand but I'm not going through another long chat on Amazon, we'll just use our table.
Yes, we absolutely should have checked it when it was delivered, but it was October and cold, and we were busy, and we thought a Weber product was bound to be complete. Just goes to show, you should never assume...
I'd like to report that we've used it and how fab it is, only we're actually pretty stocked up on food now so won't be having a barbie until tomorrow...🫣
Have had our Q2000 for a couple of years now and it travels with us to France and around the UK. It is a great barbecue.
In fact just got it out at the weekend to check everything okay with it after winter lay up.
Have to say, you get what you pay for quality wise with Weber.
