I've been trying to persuade my other half (trained chef - does all the cooking) to have one. He's refused to even engage in the conversation - UNTIL a complete stranger happened to tell him how wonderful they are. We now have one.
------------- Freedom is a light caravan and an open road.
I think it depends what you like to cook (cake, pizza, roast, or none of those), where (inside/outside) & how (EHU, gas off grid)…
I’ve read rave reviews about baking cakes camping, but we don’t do that at home. Or pizzas, ditto.
So - like microwaves or pressure cookers - they are the bee’s knees for some of us, but a waste of money for others. No “one size fits all”. Typical UKCS!!
I was never interested in having an air fryer because I had a digital halogen oven for about 4 years which worked fine but did take up much valuable worktop space I admit. However, the halogen oven did eventually malfunction in respect of the digital programme not triggering start up so my thoughts then turned to an air fryer instead but my concern was the wattage output as the one we use at home is over 2500 watts. All the caravan electrical appliances are low wattage but when viewing air fryers online, many didn't clarify the wattage output so wasn't going to take any chances. However, earlier this year I had to visit a local caravan accessory shop for an alternative product but whilst there it came to my attention that Quest made air fryers so looked at the wattage output which was 1,000 watts output. Not cheap of course but satisfied that I can use it safely without tripping the site electrics. The only downside is that the drawer is not that big so somewhat limited to the contents it can accept but in terms of performance I'm quite delighted. It doesn't take up as much space as the halogen oven did either so fits neatly into one of the low cupboards during transit.
I have a 1.5L small airfryer that I seldom use at home as my preferred cooking method is pan or stir-fry.
I use the airfryer mainly for oven chips and onion rings when I have a steak dinner at home.
So nope, not having one in the van.
I have a 2-burner induction hob and a mini convention oven in the van, plus a Cobb which are sufficient for my needs.
Each to their own and all that.

I've just bought a new one for home, ours is more of a mini oven air fryer and we use it accordingly, it makes great cakes, buns and yorkshire puddings etc, also brilliant for roasting, it makes brilliant crackling.
It has a heating element at the top and bottom that can be adjusted according to what you're cooking so its very versatile
We have a dual one at home and the one that replaced lives in our folding caravan. Anything that you can cook in an oven can be cooked in the airfryer and quicker. Wouldn't go without it now.

I love my Air Fryer at home, and my stove has become almost redundant, but as to one in the caravan, CERTAINLY wouldn't be taking my home one away, far too big, and really not got enough worktop space for even a small one in the van unless it was only brought out of storage for use then packed away again after.
On consideration, not sure it would get that much use anyway, probably don't do too much of 'that kind of cooking' in the van. The van has a 'full' stove with one electric and 3 gas hobs, grill and oven, plus I've got a microwave. I've also got a versatile portable Cadac gas BBQ, so my cooking options are quite broad anyway. I don't think it would be much benefit for the cost/inconvenience.
We got the "Our Place Wonder Oven" at the start of the year, having seen it on the Tom Kerridge Spanish cookery show Episode 1.
It takes up less space than our previous Lidl mini oven, so perfect for camping, even though it is a full on air fryer it looks like a regular mini oven, quality of build is superb and for £100 is well worth the the money if you can find one at that price, Selfridge's have them listed at £200 lol !
I like to cook on the cadac outdoors when caravanning. And thats it. I sometimes do toast inside the caravan, but cooking inside? Nope. I'm up and out. Get dinner in the pub or on the hoof.
