Thinking about buying a Suncamp Icon air awning, only thing that I'm worried about is the weight 40kgs. Anyone have any suggestions or comments?
Would be greatly appreciated, thanks
Gus
Weight can be a big problem with air awnings because they tend to come in one piece. We bought one and only used it a couple of times mainly because of this. My wife and I both have back issues, and I can only lift very light objects above shoulder height. We bought a metal-poled awning to replace the air one, and despite being very much larger that is no problem at all because it comes in many different pieces and can be put together as we go. No one piece of it is very heavy.
I have a few mobility issues as well, that’s why I asked, but they seem to be very popular, I use a size 16 poled awning and a 390 air depending on how many family go with us
Air awnings are popular, but they don't suit everyone. If you are young, fit and healthy I'm sure they are fine, but if not they can be a problem. I wrongly assumed they would be easier to put up, but I didn't realise how heavy they were being all in one piece as ours was.
There are only ever the two of us on our caravan holidays and lately we have tended to do without any awnings, but we may use one again from time to time. No longer having a dog has influenced our decision to not take an awning to a degree. We don't tend to spend much time actually on the site anyway, except when we are asleep. We are usually out exploring most of the time we are awake. Unless it's bucketing down!
