I have osteoarthritis in my hip, and so purchased a Huddle air bed which has three settings, one being soft. However, I still find it too hard and so causes me a lot of pain and discomfort. I'm looking for recommendations for a soft and cushioned sleeping arrangement that might help. I'm new to camping and only purchased my camping gear this year and don't want to have to give it up as I've loved my trips this year! If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, I would really appreciate your input. Thanks!

You will do s many many posts on here on the best camping beds etc. every time the same response is given out. Each individual person is different so what one person may find comfy you may not find comfy.
We are on our 4 th bed/sleeping set up now as my wife suffers with hip & back pain constant. W.ehave tried, camp beds, camps beds with Sims on top, the last 2 years we have had a Vango deluxe high air mattress I do for do it comfy, the wife now doesn't. The end of this summer we bought decathlon base beds with Sims on top again. We have yet to try them but from reviews and the wife trying someone else's set up like this she they say this is the best set up so far!!
We will see!!
After much money spent over the years I hope we have finally found a set up that works for my wife!!
Only time will tell!!

Probably not what you want to hear but if the pain is that bad you surely need to be sorting out the hip medically.I had my right hip replaced 15/16 years ago and have no issues since laying on either hip. Although its not as common with hips, compared to knees, sometimes an steroid injection might help you get a more comfortable sleep?

I have an air bed (not a huddle) on which I put a 13.5tog double duvet folded in half on the top. This is so I can't feel the waffling of the airbed surface which annoys me, but it also acts as extra insulation. The added bonus is that it's like sleeping on feathers, even though it is a hollowfibre duvet.
As a fellow OA sufferer, I take Boswellia every day which has reduced my pain massively. My biggest area of issue is knees and now I don't need painkillers during or after a decent walk. It seems to me you need to be taking something to relieve the pain so you can sleep comfortably because it is likely you could spend hundreds of £££'s on different sleep systems, only to ultimately realise that it's pain management that really needs addressing.

I've been on this forum a good number of years now, as mentioned before, the subject of 'comfortable' beds is a common question, and equally common is the answer of "we can't judge what you will find comfortable!" It truly is a totally personal thing.

I'm blessed not to suffer any particular complaints, other than those common to old age of general aches, pains and taking a while before joints move freely after inactivity! I can generally sleep on just about any bed, so I can't begin to offer insight to your needs. What I can say is for me, I find too soft beds that you sink into far more uncomfortable than harder beds that support you. People have a notion of soft is better, but I'm not so sure. Sometimes cushioning from the 'texture' (such as 'dimples in an airbed) is what is required rather than a truly soft and totally 'saggy' bed!

I'm inclined to agree with travelling west, that you will never find a comfortable bed, because your underlying problem is pain, and no bed alone will cure that, only maybe incompatible beds aggravating it.

Thanks everyone for your replies - a lot of food for thought info! I take co-codamol daily, prescribed by my GP which does help with the pain. My physio recommended a soft mattress with a mattress topper which helps a lot and don’t have problems sleeping at home - that’s why I got the Huddle bed with ‘soft’ option for when camping. I like the folded duvet suggestion - space in my car is limited but I could vac bag it and squeeze it in, so will try this next time!
