I was looking for these properties:
1) Quality wire free radio link between camera and monitor - not all use interference free radio frequencies (Wi-Fi/Bluetooth is not good!)! Also needed good radio range for near 7m caravan. Ranges quoted by manufacturers are for 'free unobstructed point to point', caravans are a HUGE obstruction and can reduce range to a tenth of unobstructed range!
2) Self contained rechargeable battery power for camera, so I didn't need to drill holes in the caravan and find a suitable power source/run great lengths of cable.
3) GOOD battery life that wasn't going to run out mid-journey on long trips
4) Good night vision
5) Reasonably good resolution to give clear unambiguous views
6) Screw free fixing for both camera (self adhesive) and monitor (suction cup)
7) Moderate cost
The Auto-Vox ticked the boxes the best from those I researched, been using it for a few years now and not found much to fault, and it's been reliable. I find with the Solar panel (optional on mine), battery is fine for weeks.
Closest I can get to criticism (and it is nit picking!) is, under certain weather conditions the radio link can be a just a little intermittently unreliable, but system on it's manufacturers declared operating limits, and can be improved with optional relay booster box (too mean to buy that for the rare glitch!). And it's NOT got any self illumination on the camera, so doesn't work well in darkness, reversing lights alone barely give enough light but do give a poor image of sorts, but typical street lights give a really quite good image.
Should be noted, this is NOT a continuous running rear view monitor, need to push button on monitor to bring it to life, then it auto goes to sleep again after a set period, IIRC up to 60 seconds. I find it perfectly adequate when needing to see what's behind before say overtaking something, or of course reversing, just hit the button again if longer view time needed.
Seen a number of other UKCS users also recommend it.
TBF, there are a LOT of camera systems out there, and they vary enormously in price and features. You need to think about your needs and installation methods before picking a compatible camera. That said, I'd buy the same (or updated) camera again.
I will agree with Monty15 and his recommendation of the autovox system. Mine is probably newer than his and I can not think of a time when signal became a problem.
Mine is usable as a continuous running rear view mirror and has proved very useful as I can now see the idiotic car driver who has approached so close he is no longer visible in the wing mirrors. That occasion was on the motorway. Agreed I was only going at 50, but it was on the inside lane, so no real reason for not just passing me.
Battery life on the camera is good, I have done 2 hour journey to site and then back again without needing to recharge. The solar cell was part of the package, but never installed.
I made brackets for my camera and clamped it to the rear handle so I do not have to rely on glue. Also the camera is easily accessed to remove it for storage/recharging.

Probably an EV car slipstreaming you to get more range.
