Any recommendations for more affordable fridge-freezers 45-55L with split lid other than Dometic CFX (comes up best in searches but expensive), so many to choose from.

I have had 2 Dometics and both lasted approx 10 years before giving up but at current prices looked for cheaper .But this time just bought a cheap Dellonda 60l one from Amazon and purchased extra warranty for 5 years £35 for accidental damage and extended warranty , total cost was about £330 . The Dellonda is not quite as well insulated so runs slightly more often and has no physical catch on the lid but so far shows no sign of not staying closed . Others to look at would be Igloo or Mestic as both look to be the mid range option .

Good shout from Terry on the Dellonda. One thing worth adding, since you mentioned his old Dometics lasting ~10 years: the single biggest longevity factor in these is the compressor, not the badge. The units that last tend to run a genuine Secop (Danfoss) compressor, while the very cheapest use unbranded ones that work fine at first but struggle in a hot awning and draw more power. So when you're comparing the affordable 45-55L split-lids (Iceco, Alpicool, BougeRV, Dellonda, Mestic), it's worth checking the spec for the compressor make before price - it's the bit that decides whether you get 3 years or 10.

Two other things that caught me out: most "dual zone" fridges this size are actually a single compressor with a divider, so the freezer side sets the temperature and the fridge side follows - fine for most, but you can't run them fully independently like a twin-compressor unit. And as Terry said, thinner insulation on the cheaper ones means it cycles more often - barely matters on EHU, but eats into a leisure battery if you're off-grid, so size your power accordingly.

Happy to explain the compressor side more if it's useful.
