I have seen Jump Starters in use on American YouTube shows such as Matt's Offroad Recovery. I understand that it is unsafe to jump one car from another car's battery as you're liable to blow the rescue car's electronics. A jump starter is designed to start a car without damage to it's self.
Matt's snow cat the Bombi is fitted with a jump starter but is not used in the summer and was flat when they needed it. My suggestion was a small solar charger on the roof of the Bombi to trickle charge the jump starter.
At a campsite a jump starter can be used as a convenient leisure battery with built in 12v and 5v USB outlets. It can also be used with a large portable solar panel. It will power your tent lighting and recharge your phone, tablet and Kindle, it may even give you an hour or 2 of laptop time each day but I would need evidence that it could power an electric coolbox through the night let alone a camping fridge.

I've not watched MORR for a while now but as I recall the Bombi was modified to be a dual purpose vehicle, for snow recoveries in winter and capable of operating on sand at Sand Hollow at other times. The shoreline of the reservoir in places consists of a thin layer of hard sand and salt over quicksand. Both the Morvair and the Wrecker have bogged down whilst attempting recoveries here and Matt envisioned the Bombi as the solution.
As to the flat battery, anyone running a business like this should have a
schedule of maintainance for vehicles and equipment. Wasn't this one of the reasons given for Rudy (Matt's son) returning as Workshop Manager?
------------- Never argue with fools........They drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.
The Bombi was built by aircraft manufacturer Bombardier in Canada, it originally was fitted with a 1.6 Ford Cortina Mk2 engine made in England, I think it was one of the Ford Kent engine range.
Bombardier also own Short Brothers in Northern Ireland which started in Rochester, Kent.
The other famous snow cat is the one named the Chariot on Lost in Space used to explore alien planets: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJDH3n5sa5A
If your extended family has a fleet of petrol cars liable to flat batteries it might make sense to own a jump starter and to use it as a leisure battery during the summer camping season.
As discovered by MORR a jump starter needs a maintenance schedule or it will quietly go flat in the "off season" and not be there for you when you actually need it, but this is true of any leisure battery.
