there was a thread on here a short while ago, about the recent lidl offer on above receiver system.
what happened, when you tried them, or other people tried them, did they do the job, fairly easy to set up, etc.? just found a couple in stock at lidl - either new lot in, or returned goods maybe if no good..........any comments please, so can buy one, before they go tomorrow, or leave them for someone else to buy a dud
sorry scarrow, dont understand - tried link, but cant find any reference to it, have already tried search on this site, but only the very recent thread referred to - understandable, as was only on offer last week.
Yer not missin much with this set-up I unfortunately bought one and can`t get a picture from it what-so-ever so its coming to the van this weekend and i`ll off load it to somebody on site "tee hee"
thanks teash.......had already looked at odd links, but wanted a real review or two.....you have decided for me - wont bother to go and get one in that case....am bit of a dumbo when it comes to setting things up too, so best leave my £70 for something else.......shame....sounded ideal
maybe that is why no one came back on previous thread with their reviews
Have set mine up in the garden. About 50 channels available on Astra 2 and, with a slight dish adjustment, about another 20 on Astra 1 (Less powerful transmitter). The weakness on this set is probably the dish and LNB, so I'm buying another of these and will set these up on the house and use the receiver from the set whilst at home, and the small dish when in the caravan.
Was no more difficult to set up than any other system I've had. Will be trying it from a site later in the month.
hello all we bought one, for the caravan we have it on an all season site in denbigh we thought it would be fine for our weekends away, we only managed to get sky news and although we were trying all weekend we gave up in the end, and took it back to lidl as we feel there must have been a fault on it, but to be fair every one we have spoken to have been pleased with the set,i think the recption is pretty bad in wales, i know everywhere had sold out of them in a short time,
Yes it was fairly easy to set up, but the channels it recived were to put it mildly rubbish, either shopping channels God channels or BBC channels, nothing really worth having
Incidently, ended up having an argument at lidl, manager claimed they couldnt issue a refund over ten pounds, and it would have to come from head office, after a fair bit of arguing, and pointing out I paid cash and wanted cash back, I got my refund
we had trouble to get our money back .the manager was very unintrested in the fact that we wanted our money back he said we cant give money back unless the goods were falty , he said we would have to have goods in return so my husband had to write to head office and we got a letter back saying we could have our money back, we also paid cash,
I bought one of these sets for our caravan but have now taken it back and await a refund cheque from head office.
One problem with this set is that it will not receive ITV, C4 & C5. The box implies that it will receive FTV (free to view) channels but it will only receive FTA (free to air) channels. In order to receive ITV. C4 & C5 (all FTV) it is necessary to have a card - but this set does not have a card reader.
I did a quick set up before I realised the problem and could receive literally hundreds of foreign language stations.
The idea is wonderful but this set has limitations.
I also looked at google groups and found that the sets sold last year by Lidl have been known to overheat - apparently a capacitor/condenser malfuntion.
thanks guys - have abandoned this idea....sounded too good to be true, and obviously was......also will be wary about Lidl.....did have probs once, trying to locate spare part, and in absence, taking item back......you cannot speak to the store in person, and you cannot find out where might have what you want....they are not very helpful at head office either from my experience....another reason wanted to get some reviews.....
Oh thats not want i want to hear. We have bought one and could not get a picture whatsoever. we tried it this weekend we are now going to try it at home to see if it actually works The reason why we bought one because we could never get a good reception in the caravan so we thought a sattelite dish might be better.
If you didnt get any pic, or a poor pic you must have been setting it up incorrectly, you need to point the dish at the sun at 11.30 am.
There are 3 satellites you can tune to - ASTRA1 ASTRA2 and HOTBIRD. I think Astra 1 only has a few channels, it's a matter of finding the others by moving the dish 19 degrees to find Astra2
