I'm looking for a new airbed as some of you from the tent talk forum might have read. We currently have a rubberised 4ft (i think, it feels quite small anyway) royal camping one which is quite thin and wrong for us if our little one wants to come into our bed in the night. So we are on the lookout for a much larger one. When we started camping ages ago we got a flock air bed but I do recall it didn't last us long and we ended up with a rubberised one, an outwell one that I think is a bit larger than our royal one but has a pillow and we don't like it for this reason.

How do people rate flock air beds as opposed to rubberised ones. I can't recall why we didn't seem to get along with the flock one but do recall it let us down in the night on occassion, finding yourself on the hard floor by morning. The rubberised ones have never done this.

Pros and cons of each? What do you all think?

I think you might be right klarky. I'm starting to recall not being able to get comfy on ours. I think you can get 'into' the rubberised ones without feeling like you are merely 'on top of' like you do with flock.

Anyone find me a king size one with no pillow?

Our flock airbed didn't last long before a seam started to split.  We now have a rubberised one.  I had used rubberised singles in the past and they always lasted for years.

On a side note, Argos are currently discounting their rubberised/cotton airbed from £18.99 down to £14.99. Built in pillow unfortunately ..

Totally agree though .. rubberised airbeds are much more comfortable than the flocked PVC ones and they seem to retain heat better at night!

we would prefer to use a rubberised one as the flock ones do not seem to last long as has been mantioned. trouble is unless anyone can prove otherwise, no one makes a king size rubberised one. have searched the net several times but can only find kingsize airbeds in the flock variety !!

We are looking at buying airbeds. Are the rubberised ones as deep as the PVC/flock ones? Any idea where I can get them from - I've looked at various camping shop sites and Argos but can't seem to find them. Thanks.

Try the above link for rubber ones without pillows (or with if preferred). Size is not huge though.

Ah, got them now thanks. Also helps if you spell 'rubberised' right when searching...
