Fairly new to camping and we have a 2yr old who has never camped before and I was thinking about getting an airbed for him, but I am having troubles finding any UK suppliers, although there are a few on ebay.
Does anyone have any experiance of using them with their children ? Sucessful and not sucessful and can anyone reccomend a supplier of these airbeds ideally located not too far from Cambridge.
Check out this link to another discussion that has been going over the last couple of days. There is an airbed that has raised sides which looks pretty good and, bearing in mind how fast kids grow, it is cheap enough to replace when little-un outgrows it.
You could always try a ready bed - we use one with our youngster. It is an airbed, but comes with a cover which completely encloses the airbed and has a zipped cover which they sleep under. Might not be warm enough on its own for camping....what we did was buy a child's sleeping bag which went inside and then zipped up the ready bed so he wouldn't fall off the airbed. They sell them in Argos I think.
Hi, I have a 3 yr old and a 22 month old, my daughter (3) has been using a 'normal' airbed for a year now and we are antipating my son who is in a travel cot currently will be OK to be 'let free' soon. We had some problems initially because of the freedom a tent can supply but a good junior sleeping bag helped to contain midnight walkabouts.
In terms of size the usual adult ones were to big, a friend gave us an old single with a pillow chamber which was inflated seperately (hope that makes sense). We decided to cut the pillow section off leaving an airbed of about 5 feet which seemed much less unweildy.
I would guess that if you use a bed at home you will be OK, if you still have a cot then it could be an interesting learning curve.
My 3 year old sleeps on a standard single mattress as well, and I use a Vango Nitestar Convertible sleeping bag ( superb bag by the way) and he gets on fine.
