We are going to france in the summer hols and it will be hot at night so could anybody advise me of a good cooling system.Or if possible a cooler and heater combined.
I used an evapourative cooler in Belguim last year, the temperatures stayed in the high 20's till midnight.
Cost about £40 remote control, and the fan is really quiet and relaxing (my wife (soon to be ex) slept with it on and she usually hears ants tripping over and wakes up)
Runs on mains but very little current consumption 60W Max ! (under 1/4 amp)
When we were in France during the heatwaves two years ago we slept out in the awning of the TT with the front rolled up. It was really nice, though we only did it for the two hottest nights. There were people sleeping out under the stars and under open canopies all over the site.
The kids weren`t so keen though...they preferred their little hot burrows in the undertent.
Oh yes...the other tip that helps keep you cool during really hot weather is not to use your groundsheet if at all possible. The ground will be bone dry anyway and grass carpet is really nice to walk on. You get more ventilation under the flysheet and there isn`t an insulating layer between you and the cooler ground.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
