Fabric conditioner actualy coats the fibres of materials and helps repel water to aid drying. Not something you want to happen to a towel which is supposed to absorb water .

Thanks for that Dave, I thought there must be a good reason. Makes things easier when camping too not having to use conditioner.

managed to get some at last, got a bath towel & two hand ones, so far am impressed with them & glad they pack up small. liked the look of the tent too but dont think ill be able to carry that around on the back of my bike
Just read these posts and realised the lidl I went to only had the white/peach stripy ones - shall go to other lidls and see if I can find the darker colours.
we used the bath towels this week end.felt abit odd when drying myself,but done the job with ease and quicker than a normal towel.the towel itself dried quick,although it did'nt feel too wet after it had been used.also used the sleeping bag fleeces,defently kept us warmer..
