stop! wait i got the self same thing for £4.99 at big W and got a pen nife and case not sure about the make but it looks the same
It may look the same but will probably differ a lot in quality, a friend of mine has a fishing tackle shop and sells 'cheap' ones. they are not in the same league as the 'leatherman' etc, one twist of the pozi drive and it was useless. Ya gets what ya pays for.
Not the cheepest on the market, but I highly recommend the Victorinox multi tool. Mine has been all round the world with me and suffered all types of abuse but is still going strong
A collegue of mine has just bought the top of the range leatherman, a few more features, but he had to admit the quality is not as good.
i get the gerber free for work and they are the dogs. they are a direct rival to the leatherman and are about the same price and are used by armed forces / police / customs etc so the quality is fantastic. They are not the same as the petrol station ones (although they are great for keeping in the car / rucksack etc) so don't get them mixed up with the Gerbers. However, if i was paying with my own money, I might wince at the cost of a gerber as they go up to £100+ for the top of the range.
regards
------------- apologies in advance as i know nothing about this outdoor lark
I bought a Leaterman a few years ago and it's one of the best things I ever bought.
My garage looks like a Machine Mart stor but the Leatherman is the first thing I reach for, for most basic jobs. Unlike most 'gadgets' this one gets used on a very regular basis and can cope with just about everything.
I strongly recommend anyone to get one of the 'quality' multi-tools mentioned in this thread. They're (literally) worth their weight in gold.
