Can't help you with your trousers, but rest assured you aint the only one with a "helpful" husband when it comes to washing. Richard's idea of a load of washing is to squash as many clothes as he can in the machine - don't bother sorting in any way shape or form what so ever - and stick it on the medium programme at 40.
He doesnt seem to think some things might need hotter that that - or whats worse pale/delicate clothes don't fare to well for being washed with his dark clothes. Number of kids vest and my bras that are now a delicate shade of grey thanks to his help.
Have had a similar calamity recently Skatty. Have a Regatta hooded rain jacket which I love, but when it needed a wash and I couldn't get Lux soapflakes anymore, I decided that Woolite handwash liquid maybe the nearest thing - WRONG! The PU coating started peeling off like sunburnt skin . Haven't dumped it yet, but I really don't think there's much I can do with it now is there?
I'm glad its not just me - just washed my new regatta skirt. Checked the label to see what temp iron to use only to read the warning about not using fabric conditioner and about having to reproof it every time you wash it. Can't say I'm impressed!!
Thanks for that info Carol. Our local Tesco didn't have any when I needed them (tried a few other local supermarkets too), but will have a look for them next time I go there just to keep in stock - failing that, I'll try any Tesco I come across when we're on our travels
Wey hey! Does this mean that if I use Lux flakes on my Jack in a Bag kagoul, it's going to be able to get rid of the manky mackerel smell then? (or is that asking just to-o-o much?) Had a mishap with one whilst fishing in torrential rain last week and it sort of went everywhere - very whiffy! Was considering getting to it with a nail brush and some fragrant soft soap but not sure if that would ruin it? At least it would smell nicer though, and that's got to be a result! Phew!
Would hate to have to dump it as it's such a good match for my waterproof trousers and would mean that I'd need to wear my almost glow in the dark fluorescent yellow one ALL the time! Could be handy if I got blown in the sea though.....
