Have decided i can't live without my pillows, camping ones are too small and inflatables just not squishy enough, but they take up too much room.
Have seen those bags in Argos which you suck the air out of with a hoover but what happens on campsite when you are packing up to come home?? can you use an inflator/deflator from ciggy lighter???
Anybody got these bags and are they any good?
Or can anyone tell me where to get good ones from?
we have used these bags in the past and found they are very handy . we ( the wife ) also have a small vacumm that is used for sucking out the air from the bags when packing up on site that runs off the mains electric though you can get one that runs off the car battery . note that not all these bags work as some tend to leak .
If it`s just for pillows, put one pillow into a strong black binbag, hold the end almost shut then sit on the binbag, or get one of the kids to do it. When you`ve forced out most of the air then use a freezer clip to hold the bag closed.
I hated camping pillows because I didn`t like the itchy synthetic feel of them. Then I had the bright idea (duhhh! )of putting it into a cotton pillowslip and it was considerably more comfortable. I just came back from a five week trip, and it was wierd using a full sized pillow again.
Hubby also used a pillowslip on his pillow, but as he thought it a bit small he padded it up with his fleece jacket and the fleece blanket we didn`t need.
The kids loved the camping pillows just as they were...they thought they were as good a cuddle as a stuffed toy.
I have a couple of Pac-Mate (or similar) bags that do not need a vacuum to remove the air. You simply seal up and roll which forces the air out of small valves at one end - they work well an do flatten pillows quite well - although I have a couple of camping pillows now after finding a smallish but not too soft version.
Thanks for the replies, it looks like i will have to be carefull if i do go for the bags if some leak but the ones you seal and roll up sound like a good idea so maybe i'll look out for those. failing that its black bin bags.
we've got the argos ones and we too deflate them with our airbed pump. never get them quite as small as with the vacuum at home but good enough. They are huge bags though, we got duvets, pillows, towels and fleece blanket for 2 people, in one bag!!!!
We have just bought these bags from Matilan, we paid £10 for two packs, each pack contains 3 bags 2 large and 1 medium ,they seam to work well at the moment and are very good value
