We are new to camping and have only acquired the basic items to make camping with a six year old fun. He ALWAYS wakes at 6am even if he's run around all day long until 10pm. A friend said that you can buy electric hook ups from Argos, just looked at it costs 99 pounds!!!
Is there a cheaper way to do this, i.e. buying the socket and attaching it to something?!! (Sorry to be so technical lol) Advice gratefully received as 6am is too early to do most things whilst camping!
They can be bought cheaper (generally about £60-£70). from various camping outlets.
Do not compromise on safety. It's doubtful if you can make one up for much less than the ones mentioned above.
Also, avoid some of the lash-ups advertised on the likes of Ebay.
If you type EHU into the search area, you'll see loads of threads debating the subject.
We got ours on eBay and it cost around £30. It had a manufacturers guarantee with it. Been using it for around 3 years with no problems. But I always make sure all electric sockets are kept on a rubber base and not left on the ground so as to keep them dry.
Lixxy, they are about £59.00 in Catterick Caravans too for a single socket an they have another one with 3 sockets on for about £80.00, just down there yesterday and they had loads in stock, There are loads of threads on here about E.H.U. and we have decided to go to a reputable dealer for ours as our lives are precious to us, and with only 2 more meets booked for this year, will get this during the winter months.
For the rest of this season though we are making do with what we have used all year apart from the Black Cat heater we have just got, cause Nanna feels the cold on a night time.
