Last Thursday whilst camping the temperature drop to 7 Degrees and we were freezing so we have decided to go electric but don't know what heater is best and safest. Any help would be grateful.

Hi alison
I have bought a halogen heater. It cost £10.00 brand new .I think they vary £10-15.It urns like a fan so everywhere gets a blast of heat.Mine also will automatically turn off if its knocked over.Far safer than a gas heater, especially if you have small children.

A fan heater is always a good idea if termastatic. We have used one in the trailer tent off of the EHU without any problems, 2kw on max setting for a shorttime whike taking the chill off then on a lower setting for several hours at a time. These can be bought cheaply from almost anywhere.
Hope this helps.

Like mi-mi i would say go for the halogen . If you knock it over it automatically shuts off, gives great heat (won"t dry the air) and the lovely glow makes you feel snug.

Argos item 415 / 8219 £14.95. Works a treat for us and heats the tent in no time and is great at overcoming any early morning chills. The thermostat can be set to prevent the tent becoming too stuffy.

fans noisy, halogen very bright. For virtually silent all night running get a convector heating with a thermostat and a safety cut out. Can get a good one for less than 20 quid. Pref go for one with a 1 kw and 2 kw setting if not got a thermostat on it.------------- Caz
If you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel, just keep going till you go round the bend.

Agreed, Caz, that fans can be noisy, but the one I described above is hardly noticable.......maybe we were just lucky.

Hi. We use a slimline electric radiator ( I think we got it from B&Q ?)
It took the chill out of the tent and can be left on all night. It certainly kept us warm.
