We bought our Advent 500 because it had Western Europe street level maps. When we got it home we discovered the maps had to be downloaded onto another card to be exchanged with the original UK one on crossing the Channel. We have to download each country separately and the detailis very good. Perhaps france is on a CD for downloading onto a memory card?
We live from one direction at the top of a very steep narrow twisting hill with signs unsuitable for heavy goods vehicles but yesterday again under the influence of Sat Nav a B & Q large delivery vehicle forced its way up.
He was delivering a kitchen for my neighbour and I was to store it in my garage for him.
The driver thought it quite clever that he had bits of tree sticking out of his vehicle and that he had widened the road!.
I lent him my craft knife to open packages and my sack truck to wheel the oven etc to the garage.
He repaid me by driving his heavy vehicle over the sodden grass verge and giving me the job of getting the deep ruts out before I can mow it.
Really a brain would have been of more use to him than a Sat Nav
Hi Jue,
Thanks for the link have now downloaded the manual now all I need to do is read it,like most men I took it out of it's box and played with it without reading the instructions but the manual is more comprehensive anyway. My wife always says that if a woman wants to hide something on the computer she should create a file named instruction manual and put all her private stuff in it safe in the knowledge that no male will ever open it!
Thanks Saxo1
Here's a warning - somewhere (?) I read that you could make your own POI's using latitude/longitude obtained from Google Earth - this doesn't work!
I tested it today on my Garmin (messing about! ) and found that the given point is about 13 miles out!
Using Microsoft Autoroute, the lat/long figures are spot on, so if you do want to make your own POI's, don't use Google Earth!
