Could someone explain how much you can use on 10 Amps please ~ as we have just bought a Halogen Heater (I know there are likes and dislikes on these) but I was told 'Oh you can't use one of those as they will blow the trip out' so will that happen? it says on the box ~ power settings: 0.4kW / 0.8kK / 1.2kW / 1.6kW so what does that mean in terms of ~ boiling kettle, making toast, awning light etc?
the amount of amps that the heater will draw at each kw setting is directly related to voltage so i would need to know he you are using 12v 24v or summinl on 240v
Some kettles you have to watch out for. Some of the quick boil kettles are near 3kw ( 3000watts ) which will not work on EHU. We got the cheap Tesco one for about £5 and that works a treat. We also use a Halogen heater which is 4 bar ( 1600watts ) and it has always been fine. We have to turn it off to boil the kettle though.
If you have a proper EHU unit then tripping it out is not a problem at all. All you do is reduce the power ( turn something off ), open up the glass plastic front and flick the switch back on again and you are up and running.
Just try and keep your power consumption to around 2200watts and you have given yourself a little bit of room for error.
Thanks for that link Mike, we are going to be using an EHU for the first time this summer (when I've actually bought one that is!) and the info on the data sheet will be very useful I'm sure.

Would like some information please.

Watts divided by volts = Amps. (1kW = 1000 Watts)
So just divide the wattage by 230 and you will know how many Amps you are drawing.
Your heater on full will take about 7 Amps so you should be fine, but don't boil the kettle at the same time!
Finally bought out electric hook up today £49.99 for a 3 socket one from Best Buys in Wellingborough inc a free carry bag. The sockets are vertical and ideally I wanted horizontal but the price was too good to refuse. Now we just need to decide what sort of electric coolbox/fridge we are going for. I like the combicools, but they are expensive and would take up more space than we have in the car I think, so I'm looking at other options.
