After getting quite a lot of essentials for our camping trip I can't decide whether to get a battery operated lamp, a big torch or a gas lanterny type light!!!??? I love the gas mantle light/lamps because of the nostalgia of family holidays when I was little, but could do with some more practical advice as we are a family of 4 and a DOG!!!!! so really don't want any accidents??? I really have NO idea which would be best! Thanks for any replies, Josie x
I like them both. I use a battery lantern for the inner tents for safety reasons and a gas lantern for our side or the living area. The gas lanterns give off a little heat which is why i like it for the living area.
I like the idea of both of those!!!!! I'm into being warm!!!! and especially if I can turn out a light by remote control!!!! I saw those before, thank you both of you!!!
we have a gas lantern, which is great, espeacially when sitting out, but with kids in the tent wew are not too keen to have it on in the tent untill they have settled down.
We have just bought today a gelert 9w rechargeable r/c lantern, anyone got one of these and are they any good, haven't opened the pack yet so if they are crap i can take it back.
I recently got hold of a dual mantel Coleman lantern and took it to Dawn's birthday bash. It lit up the social area brillantly (if you will excuse the pun!)
Before getting this working we used a gaz latern for outside but at approx £5 for a large cartridge I will be using the Coleman now at approx £0.50 for a fillup of unleaded.
We have a gas lamp for outside the tent, battery one for the inside. Gas isn`t ideal for inside a tent if you have a lively family. You can get horrible burns from a gas lamp just from touching the glass shade, they get so hot.
I`m thinking about a simple electric strip light (camping rated) as well for the times we take the EHU.
