ive just bought a double burner stove from lidl but dont understand what gas i need.it has a regulator which says butane 714.is that the gas i need and if so where can i get it? any ideas? it also says 28m bar and i dont know what that means!
28 bar is the pressure that the regulator allows the gas to pass to the stove. It's a very common size, easily obtained from any caravan dealer. So too is the Butane gas bottle. You'll also need a short length of rubber gas hose.
I just looked on the site, is it the silver coloured one? The regulator says Butane, so i would suggest thats the gas you need. you can get them from most camping shops, and hardware stores. I will say though that you have to buy the bottle first time round, so can be quite expensive, but then about a tenner to fill, depending on size.28m bar is the pressure.

Hi Wocky, calorgas dose butane, not sure on that number you gave but most caravan shops who sell gas and maybe the right regulator will help . the number 28m bar is the working pressure( normanley maximum) hope this helps
Have a look at this thread, and the search facility will bring up a few similar ones.
The usual choice is between Calor or Campingaz cylinders. Once you've chosen, you just need the appropriate regulator to attach to the cylinder, and a length of hose (with jubilee clips) to connect it to the cooker.
thanks for the replies.I think i better go to a shop and get them to sort me out then!i hope it wont be too expensive!!! this is meant to be a budget holiday!!!!!!!!!!!
i have been given a campingaz 907 canister which is empty but the regulator doesnt look like it will fit it.Is there a way round this and can i use this bottle with a different regulator with my stove?
Yes, you can buy a campingaz regulator to fit onto the hose. I bought one online recently for £2, so it shouldn't cost too much even from a camping shop.
The cylinder will cost you £15 to exchange for a full one (Gwent camping on Stow Hill sell them)
if your gas suplier is a good one he will swap the bottle you have for a bottle that fits your regulator after all the deposit charged is the same regardless of fitting type our local caravan dealers changed and just charged us for the refil
