Is it possible to bring an old, dead leisure battery back to life and, if it is, is it worth it?

I cycled past one that had been dumped a couple of days ago and I was wondering if it's worth going back to pick it up. Cheapskate that I am.

I have a multimeter and I've got a good idea of what I can use as a load so I can do the test. What if the battery fails the test? Does that mean it definately can't resurrected?
