Just bought the same one as you

I have a campingaz cylinder in the shed- it's butane(and has a regualtor)

Campingaz is a trade name.

Don't know if they do propane as well

Wonder what the difference is?

You have to have a regulator for either butane or propane and one wont do the other as they are different pressures.

28mb for butane, 37mb for propane

From what I've been reading connectors may differ on the continent

My campingaz bottle is only 1.85 KG so I think I'll bite the bullet and get a "new" 4.5kg bottle of butane

I hope that will cover a fortnight in Germany camping

Hope my thoughts help

As long as you have the right regulator you should have no problems, I`ve used my two burner/grille cooker on calor, propane and camping gaz without any problems.

Thanks for the advice

What's the capacity of the 907 bottle?

Finding it hard to source

Can get a 4.5 KG calor butane for £36 round the corner(don't have an empty :( ) in an esso garage and a rgulator off the internet

I already have the regulator off the campingaz 1.85 that won't fit the calor

it's certanly cheaper to fill a bigger bottle with propane or butane.
i filled a 3.9kg propane cylinder for under £10 and the regulator was £7 off ebay.

to fill the 907 was nearly £15 alone

The only difference you would notice (unless you check how long your kettle takes to boil with a stop-watch!) between butane and propane is propane will 'gas' at lower temperatures.  Butane becomes tempremental (to say the least) below about 5 degrees, and totally useless at about 2 degrees as it just WON'T turn from the liquid in the bottle into usable gas!  Propane doesn't suffer that problem till you get down to Arctic temperatures!  So unless you intend to camp early/late season and winter, there really is no difference (the purists will tell you butane burns hotter, or something like that, but the difference is not worth bothering about - if you 'all season' camp, get propane and a propane regulator and stick to it.  If you only camp in Summer, I think butane is slightly cheaper).

Agree that it will work with any bottled gas as long as you have the right regulator.  If you intend to use it abroad then you will probably only be able to get/swap/refill campingaz.  As others have said in other threads - try your local tip for a gas bottle.

What's concerning me just now isn't so much the butane/propane debate.

I was going to bite the bullet and buy a calor 4.5kg bottle as I can't find anywhere close to me to refill the campingaz(904) bottle I have but I think it may be a bit too big
I will be driving from Ijmuiden, Netherlands to Germany- will I be able to find somewhere to get a refill of the campingaz on the way?
If so where and how much would I be looking at?

TIA
