both if your battery goes flat at least you have a spare.and torches too.. saw a family last year one torch between the lot of em. one went to loo wi th the torch other left in the dark.
We always carry more than one torch and plenty of spare batteries and we have EHU now. Better safe than sorry and on some sites, probably most, you need torches to return home from the pub, onsite club, or even just the toilets.
We've always got l-o-a-d-s-a lights what with an extra one in the awning, plus another for fishing, plus individual pocket torches for all of us! Never can have enuff light
We have a camping Gaz one, a rechargeable Colman jobby, plus two of those powerful thingies that take the 6v batteries and then...the individual ones
If you camp when the weather is cooler, then a gas lantern is ideal as it gives off a bit of heat too. However, in hot weather a battery or recheargeable lamp is fine. Headlamps are ideal for reading or for visits to the loo, and they're quite reasonably priced now.
