have you tried the campsite search on here, many many sites with hookups just ring a few and see if they can get you in. most people will accomodate for just one night as lots of people do this before travelling over the water.

Southsea leisure is about a 5 minute drive along the sea front to the ferry terminal

There are two Caravan Club sites nearby, Morn Hill near Winchester and Rookesbury Park near Fareham.Many years ago we stayed at the Southsea site and thought it was OK.

We stayed at Southsea Leisure Park a couple of years ago and quite a few people stayed overnight before catching the ferry. I did not have any problems getting to sleep though.

Alternatively theres an empty lift on the spinaker tower you could rent
