i am trying to book a one night stay at a campsite in or near portsmouth preferably with electric hook up prior to my French holiday at the end of July. Any advice would be appreciated

have you tried the campsite search on here, many many sites with hookups just ring a few and see if they can get you in. most people will accomodate for just one night as lots of people do this before travelling over the water.

Southsea Leisure Park would be alright for a night stop, but don't expect to get any sleep

Try Loveders or the C & CC site just in front of it at Nutbourne

There are two Caravan Club sites nearby, Morn Hill near Winchester and Rookesbury Park near Fareham.Many years ago we stayed at the Southsea site and thought it was OK.

You could try the Camping and Caravanning site at Emsworth/Southbourne which is about 20mins by car from Portsmouth.

We stayed at Southsea Leisure Park a couple of years ago and quite a few people stayed overnight before catching the ferry. I did not have any problems getting to sleep though.
