shooie

as stated earlier, I agree with the PDA route! (pun intended!)

But most seem to ignore this option! Maybe you have to be a bit more techno aware?

PDAs are fun techno gadgets but how many people have a genuine use for them. Many people might have a use for sat nav but how many would honestly need to use a pda for any other function. What is the point of surfing the net on anything other than a desktop or a laptop?

I use the Navman ICN510 and the Blaupunkt Lucca. Both are ok for the last mile, but I wouldn't use them for getting about the country.

The kids get amused when I turn the opposite way to the directions - because I KNOW BETTER!!!

Like the Navman PIN. Having street mapping and OS seems to be the best of both worlds.

Brian

I agree with net surfing, it's pretty awful on phones and PDA's but, based on the massive sales volumes of PDA's in the UK and rest of the world, I guess lots of people have genuine uses for them. Note that Sat nav on them is a recent innovation and not the main reason for their creation.

As an additional thought, please review the latest offering from TOM TOM where they are now trying to emulate the existing functions of PDA's by adding e-book reading, music, video etc. They just ape the PDA and not very well IMHO.

Still, horses for courses.
