I need to find a tent for my parents so they can come camping with our family.
The criteria is low price (all very well saying you get what you pay for, but they haveno money and I'm a student and likely to fund it for them); ability to stand up ias you walk in important a Mum has back problems; some space but not masses.
I'm hoping to take them to see ideas this weekend, so any suggestiosn welcome.
As mentioned above, Halfords are pretty good (especially when they have a sale on) and also keep an eye on the Aldi / Lidl / Netto websites. They are quite good when they have camping equipment for sale.
Do you think they would prefer a synthetic tent, or a canvas one? There are some good deals to be had on older, smaller canvas frame tents which are still entirely servicable.
Most of the well known makes do a dome tent that is big enough to stand up in - e.g. Wynnster Shrike 6, Vango Venture 500, Gelert Cadiz 5, Outwell Arizona L, Aztec Merida, though these vary in terms of how much living space they have.
For height all the way through both bedrooms and living space, a tunnel tent may be best- perhaps the Wynnster Mallard 4,
If stand up height is not essential in the bedrooms as long is the living are offers this, then there are lots of different vis a vis style ones to look at - Gelert Monsoon 4, Wynnster Buzzard, Vango Aurora, Outwell Casagrande
We bought this tent for our parents (as well as having one for ourselves) it's a Campus Yale. It is a great tent, with one room with full sewn-in-groundsheets (so keeps out all the creepy crawlies), goes up all in one go and can be erected in less than 15 mins. It does come with 2 curtains so you can divide it up into 3 if you like, but we just use it as one big room.
You can buy for £99 in some places although stocks are running low as the new Khyam Yale 2006 is replacing it (at a much higher price).
A fabulous quality tent at a great price.
