Hi

After ordering loads of camping gear on line a few weeks back (ist trip in 11 days) I decided to look at our purchases including these  weatherproof lanterns from Gelert. I thought they'd be ok for the children but they hardly give out any light.

Wondered if anyone could reccomend a decent light for living area (evening) use, preferably battery operated -as we won't have electric hook up.  I have yet to try my  Campingaz lantern maybe that will be ok, but thought torches would suffice for the children while they are settling down to sleep etc...

Thankyou for your help!

We have a rechargeable lantern from Ring Endurance. We didn't want a battery one as they go through batteries like mad, so rechargeable is good for us. It recharges via mains or 12V. Gave out enough light for both me and my OH to read by in the pitch dark.

For the kids we use those snap glosticks. I bought a job lot off Ebay and they give out enough of a glow to see by, but not enough to be disturbing as they are trying to sleep and they last for most of the night at this time of year, so are great if they wake in the night.

When my lad is in his pup tent he often takes one of the solar lights from outside the caravan in with him. Have to remember to get him to bring it back out in the morning so it recharges.

If you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel, just keep going till you go round the bend.
