Hya Gemma.
Isn't the gloucester trailer centre still open on the Bristol road?? I'd have a look there at the kits if I were you. They used to come with a wiring diagram showing all the colours & where to join them. The last one I did was only a case of Scotch locking the towbar wires into the wires by the back lights in the boot of the car.
If you're not confident in doing it then any auto electrical place will do it for you. If you don't know any, just drop into your local garage & ask, if they don't offer to do the job for you they'll be able to tell you who to ask.
