Whilst I acknowledge that with wheelclamps, you get what you pay for, my caravan is locked in a compound with a hitch lock, 3 locked gates and cctv. The insurance company insist on a wheel clamp, is the £30 one from argos going to keep them happy? They did not make any specific request on type or model, just stated a hitchlock and wheel clamp must be fitted.

It's doubtful if you'll have the back-up of 3 locked gates and CCTV when you go on holiday with the thing though....so best you do as the insurance company say's. To be safe it's best to ask the insurance company for an approved list.

Our storage site do not allow wheelclamps on caravans in storage because of fire risk. If a fire broke out they would need to pull out neighbouring vans and this cannot be done if a wheel clamp is in place. They gave us a list of insurance companies that agreed with their terms of storage and we opted for Shield Insurance.Check with your storage site and they should be able to recommend someone to you.

We do have a wheelclamp which we use when not in storage, which is needed as well as a hitch lock by almost all insurance companies.

our insurance company told us "trailer tents aren't as trendy as caravns so thats why we don't stipulate the need for a clamp" - cheeky buggers.

anyone we have an SAS clamp, but ours is always well hidden where we keep it

The storage site recommended the insurance company. I am pretty sure it is sheild. He does permit wheel clamps any way. I left the insurance companys card in the caravan, but should have the paperwork in a few days. Now you mention the fire risk, I am a bit worried. Still it is insured against fire and they did request the wheelclamp.
The insurance company just asked if a hitch lock and wheel clamp where fitted, they did not mention any kind of approved equipment like motor insurers generally do, so I don't suppose it makes any difference. The storage site are holding a set of keys if they do need to move it, but they only recommend leaving a set in case I forget mine, and did not request keys in case of emergency as I was expecting.
