hi everyone we purchased a cobb bbq from the barbecue warehouse in march of this year we have used it about 10 times with no problems, however whilst dismantling the cobb for cleaning after using it the last time ( just to cook burgers and sausages ) the plastic casing around the side and at the bottom has melted, the casing has only melted on one side which is weird i remember reading on here before someone else having a similar problem but i cannot find the thread.
I rung the bbq warehouse and was told that the director is away but that i would have to write to him to see if i could get a replacement she wasn't sure if i could because they had, had no other complaints!!!
But from doing a google i have found out that this is not the case.
I also rung cobb who were very nice but he said it was an old model and the new ones were all metal but he didn't know of any other ones melting.
My question to him was to ask why if the plastic ones were fine did cobb have to upgrade news ones to metal? but he didn't know, he did tell me to ring back though if i needed anymore advice.
Any help on this one before i start writing my complaint letter would be gratefully received.
This HAS happened before with a Cobb from BBQ Warehouse. There was a long thread last year when, I think, LisaBellew (sp) had a Cobb that melted and BBQ Warehouse were in denial. I believe that Cobb UK got involved in the end.
i have got to say ,mine also melted on the rim. Ihave the new modelbut i know exactly what i did wrong, ran out of fire lighters ,on hols , drunk ,threw a bag of barbie coals on ,stupid me .coals went white stuck the biggest piece of pork you have ever seen on roasting rack. Went for a long walk came back the pork melted in your mouth, but my poor cobb, lesson learnt diana.only use the austrailian beads,to much cheap barbie coals ,and a piece of pork that would just about fit in a normal oven.anyway good luck .and i hope you get a replacement
yes it was posted on last year about one melting. bought a cobb this year and i had a slight problem with it .which has now been rectified by graham at cobb(mone was purchased off him) when the "message body" is put back in the search facility you may be able to find the info
My old Cobb base split round the rim in several places, I emailed pictures of the damage to Cobb as they requested back in April and several emails later they still haven't replied
I am so interested in these threads. Cobb UK have pretty much told me that I was the only person they knew whose Cobb had melted!!!! I now know differently. I cannot believe that they didn't change the design because of the melting probs. it's disgusting with kit of this price. I have also had emails ignored even when I too sent pictures. You think they'd be more help!
Graham at Cobb was brilliant when I had a problem with my old type Cobb, from what I can remember there have actually been 3 models of Cobb, and the BBQ warehouse have been selling the original ones, that had problems if overloaded or not looked after correctly. The differences between mark 1 & 2 Cobbs are very small, and you can only tell if you stand them next to each other.
