I have just purchased a new caravan with alloy wheels 175R 14 99.  Can you advise the best type of wheel clamp.

Milenco and Bulldog are good.   If it is a brand new van you may be able to fit the new Alko.

Hi Toddle welcome to ukcs

as Jen says Millenco or Bulldog

If your worried about scratching take an old towel or cloth and drape it over the wheel befor fitting.

some of the new SAS ones have an anti scratch plate, also worth looking at

The one we had to get last year for our new van with it's alloys seems good. It's bright red, not that easy to fit, (lots of huffing and puffing heard from hubby reaching round the back of the wheel), but that's gotta be a good thing right? Coz if it's tricky to put on, (only a knack which hubby has yet to master, I'm sure), then it's gotta be tricky to get off too? And that's gotta be good security wise hey?

Ours is a pwitty bright red jobby and was on a really special price at our caravan shop when we needed it coz our old Bulldog, (excellent and many years of service), was about an inch to small for the alloys.

I'm waffling here coz I can't remember whether it's a Millenco or an SAS one...Ah ha! Hang on....just checked our keys but nothing on them to say, (old one had it's own Bulldog keyring), so took a squiz on wheel clamp websites and I think ours is an SAS one, by the looks of it. I'll be able to tell ya for definite this evening though coz we're going down to the storage site later to do some bits ready for our hols in 1 weeks time.

Memory like a goldfish at the moment me!

But don't forget, with all these wheel clamps, they are only a deterrent coz a determined scumbag, er, I mean...thief, will get our vans away no matter what if they get the chance. And with that in mind....wonder how I could wire it all up to be like an electric fence

I had to put a hitchlock, wheelclamp & was given the option of either a second wheelclamp or fit leg locks on at least two out of the four stabilisers. I chose the leglocks & was amazed at how clever they are.

The wheelclamp I bought is the Milenco, only because it was on offer, I think I'd have gone for the bull dog option given my time over again.

I strongly advise you ask for a demonstration on how simple/difficult these clamps are to fit. I wish I'd asked the man to show us before spending our cash on something I feel could have been different. The Milenco is not the simplest one I've come across to fit & I really wish I knew how the Bull dog compared to it.
