Hello!
I'm just about to buy myself a camping gaz camping chef double burner and grill, but am looking for advice about which regulator to buy. It all depends on which gas is cheaper/longer lasting etc.
Is it cheaper to buy calor gas bottles and refills or camping gaz? Also, is there a difference in availability?
cheers,
Kate

Calor gas: available all over the UK but not abroad, larger bottles and slightly cheaper.
Camping Gaz: available all over the UK and abroad ( can be difficult to find in Scottish highlands and islands), smaller bottles.
Lots of threads with different opinions as to which is best on here if you do a search.
Welcome to website.

thanks, Bob.
I'll do a search of the site for some more opinions, but it looks like I'll prob. buy a camping gaz regulator, as it'll be useful if I'm abroad.
I do love gadgets!

Camping Gaz bottles in the UK are refilled by Calor anyway. If you do not intend camping abroad Calor is the cheaper option, although bulkier to carry with you.------------- Bernie

Hello,
Can you use calor or camping gaz with any camping stove?
I have a small blue calor gas bottle 4.5 kg. small dumpy one with handle. It has a screw down knob to shut off gas and a threaded side pipe which the regulator must screw onto (thread on outside of pipe). If i can use this what type of regulator do I need?
Thanks,
john

John,
I've been looking into this before I buy and it seems that, provided you have the correct regulator and it's the right gas/gas mix, either camping gaz or calor can be used for most stoves. places like outdoormegastore.co.uk sell both camping gaz and calor regulators for about a fiver, which I know both work for the gamping gaz double burner chef.

yep, as long as you get the correct regulator for the particular gas you are using - thats it!

We bit the bullet and bought two regulators and run Calor in the UK where we usually less stuck for space and then Camping Gaz for European trips.
