hi,

camping in  france and spain shortly, would i be able to buy a camping gaz cylinder abroad to save carting one there and if i buy a camping gaz regulator and hose in the uk will be this be fine to use?

I can't see why not. Camping Gaz is widely available in French supermarkets as well as campsites. You might find it quite a bit cheaper in Spain. You can buy the regulator with hose in France but it might be sensible to take it with you.

Yes you can buy CampingGaz abroad, most French supermarkets sell it either a new bottle or refills.  Your regulator won't be a problem as CampingGaz is international so no worries about different size fittings.

We were in Pont L'Eveque in June, a replacement 907 cost 14.20 Euros whilst a new one was a little over 32 Euros, that was in an Intermarche supermarket.
