Hi - we are finally sick of having to either live from tins or shop every day whilst camping and are thinking of investing in a frdige for the car for next year. My Mum can no longer do without butter every day and I can't bear the waste when we discover it dripping through the picnic bag.
The problem is.... with all the kit and the 2 boys in the car we don't have much room. I could leave one of the children behind but I think I'd rather have runny butter. I do have a thermos cooler box which worked fine but is too big. Can any-ione advise me of something small which plugs into the car (and mains if poss) that is quite good. It really doesn't need to be big - we only want to keep butter and maytbe a bit of meat/fish/beer cool. I did wonder about one of the mini-fridges from Argos that they sold during the world cup for beer. I've also seen a Tropicool Board Bar which would fit but I am not sure if I can put things on top of it which I would need to.
Any help gratefully received

We bought an electric coolbox from Towsure for about £39.99 and it's really good! It plugs into the cigarette lighter on the car and it really works! We were most impressed! You can get an adapter to plug it into the mains too. It is Towsure's own brand - have a look on their website or visit the store in Southampton www.ukcampsite.co.uk/redirect.asp?redir=http://www.towsure.com
My daughter has a barbie pink fridge from Woolworths which runs on the cigarette lighter or mains. Its just big enough to take 8 cans of beer but will hold milk butter etc. Its probably one and a half shoe box size. They also did them St George style.
We always rent our fridge now from the campsites. They deliver it to your pitch and plug it into your electricity and take it away when you leave. I personally think it is well worth the couple of Euros a night, because no food is wasted and it enlarges your food choices by being able to buy frozen food too.
It all started when our portable fridge couldnt cope in a heatwave.
We've got two, one we bought in lidls years ago & another we bought in halfords last year. they both run on 12volt & 240 & are brilliant. There's 6 of us & we use one for all drinks & the other for chilled foods. The fridge in the caravan is full as well & we're able to stay on site for days instead of sitting in traffic jams on the way to the shops. Because they're 12volt as well, we use one to take a packed lunch on big days out for all of us too.
I posted a thread earlier this week - Asda are selling Ezetil 12v 24 litre electric coolers for £13.95 each. Nice sturdy box and the fan is very quiet.
Hi,
We also have a Tropicool Board Bar for day trips and it is fantastic. Just do not expect to put too much in it, i think ours is the 15 litre model, the one which goes on the back seat and belts in. Great quality as are all Waecos products.
