I didn`t, which is why I`ve washed mine several times on a forty degree wash. Didn`t seem to do them any harm! No tumble dry though.

All my rugs say 'handwash only 'I always machine them no probs ,the cheeper checked type ones go thin and the backing splits after several washes though ,but then you just get another one !

I wash everything that says handwash only on a 40 degree delicate wash! Life is too short for handwashing!
