I've just bought one of these from woolies after reading messages further back. However, i cant get the remote to work. I've tried removing the back of the remote to check batteries etc. but couldn't get it off. Does it need batteries and if so do i need to buy those separately? Or have i just picked an dud?
just had a look at mine......I can't get the screws undone (one for supper hubby I think) either to have a look...... would think there are batteries inside ........now I'm thinking what happens when the batteries go......
They do come apart, though I can't remember how as I'm at work. When I bought mine the remote didn't work, I took it apart and I think I had to solder a little to repair it. Better off taking it back and swapping it if you aren't technical.

Is it this one as i have it!
On the top of the lantern you will see three larger DOTS in a row surrounding the black switch!!
turn the black switch with the silver dot towards the dot that look like its got lines going through it, this is the remote setting!! Now point the remote at it, press the button and it should work!!
If you've tried the above and it still doesnt work, go back to woolies and change it as my remote was working when i bought mine!!
I'd just take it back anyway....We have one and I really don't rate it at all...! The battery charge really doesn't last long and the light from it is quite poor..so much so, we only ever use it whilst getting into bed at night...!

Yea i'd have to agree!
The best lamps are the gas ones, the lamp itself is equivalent to an 80w bulb!!
Like Taviour I only used the woolies lamp when going to bed!! We used my sister's gas lamps all through the holiday and the gas bottles are so cheap!!

Learning to drive at the mo!! so i'm not that clued up yet about cars, but isnt there a risk of you flattening the battery?

No...It has never been a problem. They are made to go on the battery and are low energy...In all the years of using them they have never affected the battery at all..!
We have the same lamp (had it about two years) and have been happy with it except for the fact that the remote stopped working last year. The lamp still works fine though.
Thanks for all the advice. Tell me more about the gas lights, they sound good. Can you control the brightness of the light (not sure that we would want an 80watt bulb blarring at us all evening!) Also can you hang them up from the tent celing - are they safe there? How do you ignite them ?match. Can you recommend a good one.?

Yes you can control the brightness, Tescos (large stores) had some at a good price, and I know you can get them in places like Millets etc
You use a lighter, matches whatever you prefer to light it with!! The lamps are by Campingaz, the replacement bottles of gas are very cheap also!!
