We have just bought an Ikea mattress topper (Sultan, middle of the range thickness) as I have a Princess and the Pea thing going on with our double bed when made up. I could feel the joins between the cushions. The mattress has made a huge difference, slept like a baby!
Couldn't afford a memory foam mattress, and the Ikea one folds up neatly.
Also I have bought the thin frying pans for 99p each, great for camping, and the cutlery, glasses, scissors and bedding. It's cheap enough to not worry if you lose anything (I camp every year with a group of friends and we seem to pass equipment round and it never comes back).
I still hate actually going to Ikea, but they're open till 10pm, so I go as late as possible.
