I use a £9.99 aerial from Argos with a cheap freeview box in the tent and usually don't have any problems, although obviously some areas of the country will get better reception than others.
I do leave the telly at home, I have to as it is a 32 inch CRT and weighs about 14 tonnes. Besides it would really spoil the look of my tent! So instead, I have to make do with a small LCD. If only I could now somehow get rid of all those outdoorsy types that keep walking in front of my dish, spoilsports!

------------- The Sun always shines on TV.(and not on my caravan!)
Satellite Dish works fine for us. Our Omnisat 66cm dish worked as far as Perpignan for BBC/ITV. Only picking up Sky News, men and Motors in La Manga. We're hooked ontp our neighbour's 1.65 dish and getting BBC,ITV 1,2,3,4 and all the other free to view channels.
The larger the dish, the more channels you will pick up, but it becomes a bit impracticale to carry around a receiver the size of Jodrell Bank. .66 is a resonable size and adequate fo most I would believe.
When we go away, I just unplug the satallite system from home and take that with me, no point having 2 as I can not use both of them at the same time. But dont tell SKY that, in the terms and conditions the SKY box is only for the location it is registered at and for being used all over the place. i asked for a freeview card from sky, told them i would be using it in my motorhome, ( i had an old box from a friend who had done his 12 months) the card is £20.00 for 3 years. so i have a box, a freeview card and a dish, that = tv where i can get the dish to lock onto the satalite. all over the UK, france and the north of spain.
The satallite locator is a very usefull device, remember to remove it after you get a lock, you will get it working a lot better after you remove it. and is a defiinate must, the only time you will not need one is if you have the automatic tracker, but that is a bit over the top as I do not intend spending all my hols watching tele.
my set up cost me £60.quid, dish, box and sat finder. 2nd hand, so look around campers for a deal.
