Hello, we will be taking the caravan out in the next few weeks can anybody tell me if there is a suitable electric heater "convector/ oil filled/" or whatever that we will be able to use during the night as we have a 15 mnth old baby and as you know its freezing in the early hours, that wont trip the fuses on the hook up? what kind of wattage do sites usually take before tripping off? i want to use electric if poss as dont like the idea of leaving gas heaters running while we sleep, if you can idvize that would be a massive help
Hi, we use our gas blown heating set low, And if your van has been looked after\serviced they are safe and reliable as they dont vent inside the van, Or we have used a small fan heater on a low setting (1Kw) as these are very safe and it's very rare they trip the EHU unless you have it on over 2kw but depending on the make can be a bit noisy due to the fan, I dont like the halogen heaters as they are only any good if you are facing them and the brightness would keep you awake.

We use a cheap Delonghi thermostaically controlled fan heater on a low setting. There was a more expensive model that was low noise so we bought the cheap one and intended on exchanging it if it was too noisy. Saved oursleves over £20. Can't give any more information as this was a year or two ago and models have changed

I have both a fan heater, and an oil filled, but TBH, i prefer the oil filled, especially at night, as it doesnt make a load of noise coming on,
mines a delonghi bambino, 800W oilfilled, never had it above No4 in our van, and it has naff all insulation, Ill be saving the fan heater for the awning me thinks.
i have a fan heater which i purchaed from Argos for 9.99 has heat and fan function so will keep u cool in summer and warm in winter i'ts very quiet and is safe to leave on at night and has safety cut off.

To keep warm in the Alps whilst skiing we use 2 low wattage fan heaters on very low. I have always (despite all the precautions my husband takes) been nervous about leaving the gas on overnight. The low noise I find comforting, and never disturbs my husband or children. It might even help a baby sleep!
