However, we found it a touch chilly when we went camping in Scotland last Easter and would really like to extend our camping season to early March through to late October.
Which option do you think is best or do you have another option? Also, if we were to upgrade, I'm not sure whether or not to sell the 250s or if they would be best to keep for warmer camping as we are planning to go to the continent next year.
well i would keep your old bags for summer as the other bags wiil be too warm.if i was you ,out of those bags i would get the kyham as its a good price for a bag of that rating.snugpak do a good bag round about the same price and its the snugpak sleeper extreme . http://www.outdoorgarage.com/acatalog/Snugpak_Sleeper_Extreme_Sleeping_Bag.html
i have used this bag at an estimated - 5 outside the tent temperature and i was very warm.its a nice big bag too.
Hubby persuaded me to go for an army '58 pattern bag (new and unissued) which cost £20 on Ebay. He has had his for 20 years. These are 4 season and oh so warm. Not the best if space is an issue but you can put them in a compression sack.

We must be experts - we are out standing in our chosen fields!
If you have space add your duvet from home as well. That's what we do for "cold camping". It saves spending more money. Go for layers to get best value from your kit.
you dont say if you ave got anything between you and the floor your sleeping bags could be fine as they are you might just need better insulation from the ground
Thanks melian 01 but we've tried that. Last Easter we had very thick camping mats under the airbed and fleece cover over it. We now don't use airbeds but campbeds and have tried putting rug or blanket on beds without much noticeable difference.
Well we caravan alot so we just bought the girls bratz sleeping bags, then this year we have started to go further and therefore want to take our tent. I thought about buying proper sleeping bags for them but their ones were pratically new, I settled on buying fleece liners and they are fantastic. The girls haven't used them yet but I used a fleece liner in the awning at new year and I warmed up very nicely. The cost certainly isn't as much as buying new sleeping bags too
So I would got with the liners then you have the best of both worlds.
