Hi folks,
I know it sounds a bit daft to take a microwave on a camping holiday but has anybody else done so?
It's feasable to buy a cheap one nowadays for about £25.
Is it a bad idea to take household appliances?

It certainly is not a bad idea to take household appliances camping. We take or normal kettle and toasted when we go away although we do also have a lower rated kettle that boils a little quicker. However when you see the "essentials" that we take away for aq family of 5, there is no way we would have room for a microwave. I enjoy coming up with novel ways of cooking with the basic of utensils -it also improves my scouting skills.

People do take them, personally I can't imagine why you'd need a microwave when camping!!
Also I have wayyyy better things to use car space on than a microwave.
I guess it depends on the power usage etc. but there are better qualified people to comment on that than me! ------------- Piglet

We have a microwave in the caravan and use it far more than the oven
Its quick and doesn't create steam with condensation problems.
Its ideal for camping for heating up pies ,soup, baked potatoes ,reheating drinks etc etc

We never took a microwave when we had a tent but we have one in the caravan. Surprisingly, we don't use it much. I thought we would use it a lot more than we actually do.
