We have bought a kitchen tent to use this year and the wife wants to keep the electric coolbox in there . Could we connect it to the ehu in the main tent using a normal extention lead and adaptor? we would keep the sockets protected, or just keep it in main tent? What do other people do?
i have read the ehu info above and no one has asked this question before. is it because it is a silly idea?
I run an extension into my kitchen tent from the ehu and run cool boxes, kettle toaster, george foreman and microwave(obviously not all at the same time) and a light and have done for years.
Just remember the extension lead won`t be weather protected. Some people keep the socket end inside a big plastic box, with slots for cable access, to protect it against drips. And make sure your fridge unit is raised off the bare ground.
Personally, I just keep the fridge in the main tent. I don`t use any other electrical kitchen devices so the EHU is more useful there, plus I prefer to keep it in the driest place possible ie an inner.
you can get extension cables for outside use, its not the good to use a normal one what you prob use once in a while as you tend to use it and put it away same day, its the night air damp that gets in them, as with all cables for outside they have a temp rating min and max and whatnot.
