Please can someone recommend a kitchen / cooker stand that is reasonably solid ideally with larder underneath for storage. Dimensions up to 90cm wide (It needs to fit in our Hartford XL porch area). Keep reading that most shelves in the larder kitchens become unstable and would like to hear your views. Does an alluminium stand with wind shield, alluminium shelves and larder / material cover exist?

We have a Hi Gear one here which is very good but would be a tad to big I think. Take a look at the new Outwell Kitchen table with underneath storage. Looks very good and sturdy. Got to the Outwell website and look under furniture.

We use one we got in Argos (was around £30 if i remember correctly) It is quite robust and folds away neatly into its own carry bag. It has a hanging larder beneath with a mesh zip door. The only problem with it is that the shelves in the larder are made of hardboard and sag as soon as anything heavy (tins etc) is put on them.

Everytime we use it I make a mental note to replace the hardboard with MDF or plywood - I'll get around to it eventually !

Hi Rod, the shelfs on the Hi Gear unit are the same. One of my winter projects was to replace them, used marine 3 ply with 4 coats of varnish. Makes so much difference now with this modification.

I'd certainly recommend the Outwell Kitchen Table.

It is very sturdy and a nice size. It is not particularly cheap, but is much better quality than your typical Argos fair.

Does the Outwell kitchen unit with windshield shown in your link have alloy/metal shelves inside the larder unit? It looks like it might. MT

Thanks for all the responses. The Outwell one looks perfect and it should fit exactly in the space we have and our tent's green too! Think we might pay the extra money for it. Thanks again.

This will show how long I've been camping - I have a `Beanstalk' cooker stand.  Never been able to get the other attachments as they are no longer manufactured (I think). To make it sturdy I peg the legs down with spare tent pegs.

There are consitina types available but don't know what they're like!
