Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Same for me when booking last September to sail July this year. Cheaper to book direct with BF using the early bird offer so booked with them. Similar saving too. My Caravan club membership is due for renewal in February but I think it's time to consider the benefits versus cost.
For the last two years we have booked directly with BF, in the same time I have come to the conclusion that the CAMC is becoming less worthwhile and will probably not even bother renewing next time around.
The discounts seem to be non existent, Red Pennant has become a waste of time and we don’t use their sites in the UK anymore anyway, I guess it’s horses for courses but for me personally, it’s a waste of money.
We generally used to use it for sites and crossings to France and we always used RP, this year though, we have booked directly with French sites and also BF, I looked at the new T&Cs for RP and came to the conclusion that we may as well just book directly with Green Flag for European breakdown and also get better travel insurance with Admiral, and it was all cheaper than the price RP were quoting
The only benefit I can see for booking through the club is if you were going to one of their holiday sites, by doing this your crossing becomes part of holiday and the club has greater obligations towards you (so greater protection).
We're members of BF's Club Voyage so it's always going to be cheaper than the club and standard fares (yes you pay an annual fee but the discount I get as well as discounts on board for each crossing, cover the cost).

is the green flag equally as good as the old rp?
we had to use rp in france for breakdown and found them excellent
Nobody will be as good as RP
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!

Didn’t Green Flag provide the breakdown part of RP anyway?
We just used GF European breakdown cover for two weeks in France, the T&Cs looked broadly similar to what we had with RP anyway, used Admiral (platinum) for the travel and health insurance bit, buying the two separate policies (even though they weren’t cheap policies still worked out cheaper than RP last year and certainly cheaper than the butchered version of RP quote this year

Green Flag only covered the UK part of the journey.
We were the same, took out two separate policies and it worked out cheaper that RP. But of course no knowledge of how the breakdown cover was versus RP as didn't need it.
I wonder how long the new version of RP will last with it's uncompetitive quotes.
Hopefully the CAMC are looking for someone to do a direct replacement for the original RP.
