Please could I have your help. I have a standard driving licence that I tow with here in the UK. I drive a Seat Alhambra, and tow a caravan of 1325kg. This would bring me over the 3500kgs combine weight.

Does this mean that I can't tow it in France?

I am a little confused as to the rules.

It is the same as UK. --   up to 750kg for an unbraked trailer and up to 3500 kg for a braked one.

You have no problems

If you have a BE licence category you are legal in France.

Add the 1,325 Kgs to your kerb weight, (mass in service on V5), and I don't think it will exceed 3,500 Kgs.

Our Sharan is just under 1,800 Kgs, so a combined weight would be 3,125 Kgs.

Kerb weight? Rather than the mam weight? This doesn't seem to make sense to me as we would obviously have family and luggage in the car?
