We are in the Algarve and have been told about a heart worm that dogs can get from Mosquito bites. A local vet has quoted us around £150 pounds for a preventative tablet. Just wondered if anyone has had this done? We think a lot of the local dogs won’t be treated for this and they all seem to be fine.

There are collars that are available to protect against heartworm, Scalibor and Seresto are 2 that spring to mind.

I doubt if you would be able to tell if the dog was ill, until it gets really serious.

XVI yes?

As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.

I used Advocate for my girl. Monthly pipette you squeeze onto their skin above the shoulders, costs about £5 a month.

Protects against fleas and their larvae, roundworms, hookworm, heartworm and ear mites in dogs. It also treats lungworm, whipworm, biting lice, sarcoptes and demodex.

Available at all UK vets, or online but you'll need a prescription eg https://www.petdrugsonline.co.uk/advocate-spot-on-for-dogs-250
